Black Leadership Advisory Coalition for Census 2020 (NYC BLAC)
NYC BLAC FOR CENSUS 2020 is a NYC coalition composed of organizations and individuals servicing NYC communities of African descent. We work in partnership with allies, city, local and state government officials to ensure a full count of NYC communities of African descent in the 2020 Census.

Empower New Yorkers from the Pan African Diaspora – and particularly those living in communities in hard-to-count districts – to maximize their participation in the 2020 Census; and
Educate African descendant community members on the uses of Census data to increase community civic engagement.
NYC BLAC Committees
Help create or distribute outreach materials (flyers, videos, social media content, etc.) to educate hard to count communities about Census 2020.
Help identify translators to assist with translating resource materials into different languages; help identify translators to assist with translation at community events and workshops.
Train the Trainer
Help develop, support and host train-the-trainer materials and activities; outreach to groups in your local area to increase participation in train-the-trainer activities.
How You Can Get Involved in NYC BLAC for Census 2020:
Send at least one organization representative to NYC BLAC for Census 2020 meetings and engage in outreach efforts
Promote and convene workshops and trainings to educate your local community about Census 2020 and provide information on how to complete the Census 2020 survey
Include time to talk about Census 2020 at your community groups, civic and fraternal organizations, faith based institutions and more
Commit to setting aside days in 2020 to assist your community members complete the Census survey and keep track of the number of people you assist
