2021 RACIAL JUSTICE REDISTRICTING PROJECT

In 2021, the newly created and appointed New York State Independent Redistricting Commission and the New York State Legislature will create new congressional and state legislative districts.

The Center for Law and Social Justice (CLSJ) will empower Black New Yorkers with the necessary information, training and resources to effectively participate in the 2021 redistricting process.

Black New Yorkers for Fair Redistricting Coalition (BNYFRC)

New Yorkers of African Descent for Fair Redistricting is a coalition convened by the Center for Law and Social Justice at Medgar Evers College CUNY. It is composed of organizations and individuals who are fighting for fair districts in New York City that will ensure people of African descent have equitable representation and political power.

Coalition Goals

  • Educate New Yorkers of African Descent about the redistricting process

  • Empower coalition members to advocate for fair districts for their communities.
